VIRTUALLY EVERY HOME HAS ONE OF THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS:

#1 Dirty Soffit Vents – They once worked and let air through, but now they are so dirty they are blocked and are effectively useless

#2 Blocked Soffit Vents - Something is blocking the soffit vents from inside the attic. Usually old wood shingles after a roof replacement, or insulation was blown over the soffit vents (especially on newer homes).

#3 Inadequate Soffit Vents – Most homes simply does not have enough soffit (intake vents) to properly ventilate the attic.

#4 Soffit Vents Holes Cut Too Small – You may have vents, but the holes behind them are cut very small (see picture at right). You have to get close and look through the vent to see the actual size of the hole. Some houses have vents, but NO HOLES cut behind them.

Don’t have attic vents? That means there is not a lot of ventilation moving in your attic!

Attic Ventilation in Dallas, get it today!

IF YOU ARE GOING TO DO ONE THING. CLEAN YOUR SOFFIT VENTS!!!!

Has anyone ever told you to “clean your soffit vent”? Probably not. If air is flowing through the vents, the vents will eventually get dirty (Just like the Lint Trap on a clothes dryer). If they become blocked or clogged, they restrict the air flow and will not be effective. Cleaning should be done every couple of years. Clean with dry nylon brush. DO NOT USE A WATER HOSE!!

If you have an electric attic fan, the soffit vents should be cleaned every year. Otherwise, the soffit vents will get clogged making your electric attic fan useless and the motors will burnout quickly.

Soffit vents that are blocked due to multiple layers of paint should be replaced.

If your house is more than a few years old and the soffit vents are NOT dirty this is another concern. See “Tray Ceilings” or “Mixed Exhaust Ventilation” below.

Another problem is that many soffit vents are cut too small, even on new homes. You cannot assume that a soffit vent is providing the correct amount of intake ventilation. If the soffit vents are cut too small, this disrupts the balance of NFA (net free area) needed for proper air flow.

Having a proper attic ventilation is a great way to save money this year. Call us today and we will be happy to assist you with any attic ventilation problem you might have.
The desire to reduce the your bills by electric energy, is achieved not only looking for better prices in KWT, but by reducing the high consumption of KWT at home. This is caused by the unknown factor of what is contained inside the walls, chimneys and attics, and appliances which is not our first thought. The convenience of having an HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning)has caused an increased of energy consumption and shows that households are not prepared to achieve efficient power consumption of 0.65 KWT per 1 foot per month but , 1 foot per KWT per month, and during time it seemed normal. This the reason why all homes need a full energy consumption audit. This has never been mandatory, because it has never been seen as a “Savings” deal but as a facilitator of ”Comfort.” It is logical to think that the HVAC (AC) system is working too much, is the common response, without asking where the solution to the problem is?One aspect that has not changed is the excess heat from the attic and existing leaks in the construction of your home is the main factor of energy consumption as well as not maintaining your HVAC system 1- 2 times per year.

1 – At home it is clear that leaks in walls, doors, windows blind spots, air duct system and HVAC, are a bridge to more electricity consumption in summer and winter gas. This is called WEATHERIZATION.

2 – Lack of ventilation in the attic and the need of ventilation (air entering and air exiting) to push the heat, hot air into the attic out and not allow it to absorb and put pressure on existing accommodation in the home. Opposing forces are attracted is what we call ATTIC VENTILATION.

3 – The reflectivity of the roof is an essential factor in reducing the heat in an Attic. The roof absorbs the sun’s luminosity and UVC rays reaching 170 degrees F, through the roof shingles. Therefore inside the attic when reached 150 degrees F, (imaging having a hot iron over your head) heating the ceiling of your home. The reflectivity of the roof will decrease the temperature inside the attic at 30 degrees F this is call RADIANT BARRIER

4 – All insulation, thermal insulation R value is measured and must be around the entire building and especially in the attic. Because it is the recipient of the greater influence of the weather outside.
The attic reaches temperatures so hot and cold that it is the causes your headaches $$$$$$$$$$$!
R-38 is the type of insulation that will help you on your attic and walls. For the attic we recommend R-49, this will help you with your cold weather, hot weather, noise and and best your bills!
Do You Have Proper Attic Insulation?

When was the last time you saw your attic? Was it last year when you put your Christmas tree up?

Did you see minimal insulation? Then you are loosing tons of heat and money because of that. When you think of insulation you might not know where to start, do you use fiberglass strips between the rafters and joists? Is your attic finished, or are the rafters open and exposed? Is the ceiling finished or similarly open and exposed? Even if your attic does have insulation, what kind is it and how much is there? Equally important, does it look water damaged? If it does, it is causing more problems than it fixes?

Types of Insulation
The four most commonly used kinds of insulation are fiberglass batts (strips), blown-in loose fiberglass, foam strips, and spray foam.
Fiberglass insulation is easy to spot. Typically it is yellow or pink, and looks a bit like cotton candy. If it is in batts, it will be trapped inside thick paper, otherwise it might be blown or stuffed between walls. Fiberglass offers the most ventilation, though it is not as good an insulator as foam.
Spray foam insulation is a hardened foam that looks exactly as it sounds—like foam that was once liquid but has solidified in the cracks and seeped in to fill every hole. If you need to seal up a room, this is the way to do it.
Standard foam insulation is cut into strips, much like fiberglass batts, and is similarly laid in between the rafters. This allows ventilation between the cracks while also the insulation of foam.

Insulation effectiveness is measured by R-Values which range from R11 to R60. Higher insulationthickness in inches translates into higher R-Value and greater energy efficiency. The U.S. Department of Energy recommends an R-Value of R49. According to the International Energy Conservation Code, 55 percent of attics in existing U.S. homes are under insulated.

New Technology Energy recommends Insulsafe SP fiber glass blowing insulation. This superior product lasts for the lifetime of your home, is noncorrosive, noncombustible, environmentally sustainable and manufactured with no formaldehyde for superior indoor air quality.

Attic insulation is a key factor for the energy efficiency of any home and the comfort level of its inhabitants. It is a thermal resistance layer that resists heat gain from the attic into the home in hot weather or heat loss out of the home in cold weather.

THE NEW GREEN MEETS THE OLD GREEN

New Technology Energy is one-stop shopping for both budget- minded and earth-minded consumers. This is not the ultra expensive price tag typically seen with eco-marketing. New Technology Energy strives to provide at least a 30 percent savings on the total energy bill each month–an investment that quickly pays for itself.

With fluctuating and rising energy costs, this number will continue to create a positive and much needed break in utility bills.
Upgrading your home to an energy efficient status also increases its market value, an attractive benefit to potential buyers. A modest investment in your home’s equity can mean exponential benefits to your personal finances.

Here are four steps to reducing energy cost:

1. The Texas sun beats down on your roof, heating your attic, and a radiant barrier is the first line of defense. Applied to the underside of the roof, it reflects the sun’s radiation so less heat energy penetrates your home.

2. What is not reflected is then trapped by the use of fiberglass insulation. Heat is not effectively conducted through fiberglass, thus reducing the amount of heat transferred to your living area.

3. Insulation also creates air pockets to stop air flow. Since heat natu- rally rises above cold air while gravitating toward it, each leak creates a dual problem: cold AC air leaks out, while hot air from your attic replaces the loss at every gap. For example, if your AC unit is set on 72, it must work harder to cool not only the 74 degree air in your home, but the 100+ degree air from your attic that is mixing in the air passageways.

4. Doors and windows are obvious perpetrators, but more importantly, the leaks in your pipes, attic access, electrical outlets, light switches, walls, and air ducts rob your home because of the numerous small holes. “It is hard to believe,” said Carlos Zeballos, owner of New Technology Energy, “but the energy lost through these gaps equals the same loss you would see if you left a window open the entire day.”

First, it will be quiet. You won’t hear the AC unit running as often or as long when the protective layers of your home are doing their jobs. The less often your unit runs, the less energy, cost and unit wear-and-tear occurs.

Second, you will no longer notice temperature differences moving room to room (or upstairs-downstairs). Drafts near windows and in exterior rooms will be gone and the air flow from the vents themselves will be stronger–immediate confirmation that your improvements were a well thought-out investment. Ironically, the ‘extra’ benefits beyond the improved efficiency and energy savings are the most shocking and most enjoyable.

Saving energy and money is not simply a personal priority in today’s volatile climate. In an effort to encourage personal energy conservation, reduce America’s dependence on foreign oil, and assist with the ever tightening economy, the new administration supports efficiency upgrades and allows a 30 percent tax credit for insulation in 2009 and 2010. It is a win for your pocket book and a win for your planet.

I recently found the most adorable reusable shopping bags to assuage my guilt over my imperfect recycling record. Our family has changed to CFL light bulbs, cut out bottled water, and put the sprinklers on timers. The problem is that taking care of the earth is completely dependent on my ability to squeeze even more effort out of my overextended family and schedule.

GOING GREEN HAD BEEN EXHAUSTING–UNTIL I FOUND NEW TECHNOLOGY ENERGY.

New Technology Energy is giving my home a green-makeover and, it turns out, the benefits go beyond easing my eco-conscience. A solution that can save money, make my family more comfortable, provide healthier air, increase the value of my home, reduce the dusting, (keep out the bugs) and help me to be kind to the planet? I’m in!

GOT GREEN?

I have often read articles about ways to seal my home and block air leaks, but the problem is we never seem to find the time to look into this. The homework, the laundry, the dinners need more immediate attention. What I learned from New Technology Energy about air leaks and energy loss is that your home acts like a sponge. It works great until it reaches maximum capacity. New Technology Energy reinforces your home with layers of protection, allowing the subsequent barriers to function more effectively. Thus no single unit, such as your AC, bears the burden for the entire house (thereby overloading its function). Surprisingly, not even new homes are immune. Energy standards for new construction are lax, leaving these homes susceptible to the same energy burdens as more mature structures.

After a free Energy Audit, New Technology Energy completes detail-oriented, painstaking installation to seal every nook and cranny in your house. From the gaps between your walls and vents to your light switches and piping, the meticulous process will ensure your home is air tight and energy efficient.

A PROTEST OR AN OFFER…..

Is it a title just to grab your attention?
Is it identifying yourself with the air you breathe?
Is it what you consume without considering the destruction it causes?

It is the accelerated deterioration of the environment and its response.
It is the immediate future which we must protect and in which we must participate now.
It is the force of nature reflecting upon our lives.
It is a new era benefiting the ecology and your own life.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, world population in the year 1800 was 1 billion inhabitants. In 1920, the world’s population reached 2 billion. By the year 2000, we reached 6 billion inhabitants, and they estimate that by the year 2050, the planet could reach a population of 9 billion people.

Have we reserved enough natural resources or what is left of them to satisfy the needs of our children and grand children? This is air, water, fuel sources, oceans and continental land.

Whose is the social and environmental responsibility? Yours, mine, the general public’s or the government’s? Where are the new technologies that allow for an efficient use of electric resources? Do we have a contingency plan versus the lack of effective measures to preserve the planet?

Global warming will cause climate change which will have a domino effect over all of the world’s economies, especially in our own U.S. economy, which is a first world economy, and is the tip of the iceberg of the problem that we envision.

This is the right time for people to be the real protagonists of change. In very remote places like Alaska, South America, Antarctica, and Asia Pacific, climate change is being felt. The migration of fish is changing; the same is happening with birds and mammals; tropical forests are disappearing. Carbon dioxide, the great contaminant that causes global warming, has not been taken seriously enough.

We have not emphasized enough that carbon dioxide produced by the combustion of fossil fuels is the atmosphere’s main contaminant, and that the rampant consumption of energy is the main negative factor affecting domestic and commercial economies because our homes and businesses consume significantly more energy than what they really need. Back to pollution, the great quantities of by-products released into the atmosphere, greatly increase global and atmospheric warming. We would be truly shocked if we knew the amount of carbon emissions generated just in the U.S., just like we would be amazed by the excessive consumption of energy in our homes and businesses. If as a society, we have already reflected upon this problem, and with technology have revolutionized the production of consumer products for the home with low consumption and high efficiency devices, why then do we still have such high energy consumption?

The response and immediate actions adopted to save our planet from further ecological damage, while also strengthening our economies, are not a coincidence. This response includes an urgent improvement in the operation of the central heating and cooling systems that provide the artificial climate inside our homes, so that they work more efficiently. By transforming with existing technology the world’s homes into energy efficient homes, we could greatly reduce the consumption and production of energy, while we wait for the advent of alternative energy sources which are more earth friendly for energy production and are less damaging to the environment, atmosphere and ozone layer, which impedes the penetration of harmful ultraviolet rays Telegrapa Optimizing our homes will also give us more control over gases used in air conditioning such as Freon, and their destructive effects to the atmosphere, when they escape.

In short, the measures needed to conserve the planet’s ecology must be adopted starting with our homes and businesses by controlling their gas and electricity consumption, preventing more carbon dioxide pollution into the atmosphere, and reducing the negative impact on the planet with lower electric energy generation and lower gas usage by our heating systems.

Are you tired of receiving high energy bills and watching rates continue to increase? Now is the time to take control. Stop wasting energy while keeping your home at a comfortable temperature without breaking the bank. We can provide you with a comprehensive energy audit of your home that will show you all areas of energy loss while providing a plan to make corrections.

Many times, leaks are the result of poor building practices, lack of maintenance, or not implementing new technologies that can protect your home from the outside heat and cold. Other potential problems could be an older, energy inefficient or poorly functioning HVAC unit.

Our detailed inspection and energy audit report is the beginning of your solution. You will be provided with a comprehensive list of areas of deficiency in order of which area of energy loss is creating the most financial loss in your home. Once we have identified each of the areas, we will also provide suggestions for resolution and an approximate cost, as well as an estimate of annual energy savings based on today’s rates.

We all know that rates will continue to escalate, so your savings will continue to grow, just like any other investment you make. This investment is one of your best, since the benefits will be enjoyed for many years in the future, and your family will be provided the maximum of comfort

The following list is an overview of the areas that are tested and inspected by our energy audit:
1. Air infiltration in all common areas of the home (pipes, grill registers, plugs, switches, doors, and windows).
2. Impact of Solar Radiation in the attic.
3. Amount of ventilation required in attic to minimize temperature and eliminate moisture.
4. Determine if there is adequate insulation in the attic to stop heat or cold flow into the home.
5. Air leaks in HVAC unit.
6. Air leaks in ductwork, plenums, and grill registers, (typical losses are >30%).
7. Cleanliness of ductwork and returns of the HVAC system.
8. Heat that can be stopped with window films or jackets on the water heater.

The many benefits of doing this testing and making need corrections are the reduction of heat load in your attic, and especially in the living space of your home. Once these items are completed, the following is a list of direct benefits that you will continue to enjoy in your home.

• Significant reduction of gas and electricity usage.
• Less maintenance on the HVAC unit to maintain the temperature of the home.
• Less dust and reduction of allergens.
• Lower attic temperatures, less wear and tear on the HVAC unit as well as items stored in the attic.
• Less repairs needed due to humidity and mold.
• Less noise.
• Greater comfort in the living spaces of your home.

The cost of the inspection and testing is $200 or $.10 per square foot for homes over 2000 square feet. If you decide to use our services to correct the issues found, we will rebate a major portion of the cost of testing up to 100%. What are you waiting for? Call us today or schedule an appointment online, and start saving energy tomorrow!

New Technology Energy provides Weatherization: infiltration & duct sealing, Attic ventilation, Attic insulation and Radiant barrier services to the Dallas Metroplex area.
