Duct sealing is a crucial ingredient for overall energy efficiency and clean air that is included as part of our weatherization service. Each return and supply vent in your home is sealed to prevent conditioned air from being wasted and blown into the attic instead of your living space, or attic air from being pulled into your duct work through unsealed returns. Inside the attic, we inspect and make sure that all your duct work is properly sealed along with all connections to your HVAC units, using metal tape, , insulation and mastic sealant. New Technology Energy recommends that duct sealing be performed as a prerequisite before adding attic insulation. If energy efficiency techniques were clothes, then duct sealing would be your home’s underwear, which needs to be put on first before blowing insulation on top of your ducts and making them less accessible for later work.
