A PROTEST OR AN OFFER…..

Is it a title just to grab your attention?
Is it identifying yourself with the air you breathe?
Is it what you consume without considering the destruction it causes?

It is the accelerated deterioration of the environment and its response.
It is the immediate future which we must protect and in which we must participate now.
It is the force of nature reflecting upon our lives.
It is a new era benefiting the ecology and your own life.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, world population in the year 1800 was 1 billion inhabitants. In 1920, the world’s population reached 2 billion. By the year 2000, we reached 6 billion inhabitants, and they estimate that by the year 2050, the planet could reach a population of 9 billion people.

Have we reserved enough natural resources or what is left of them to satisfy the needs of our children and grand children? This is air, water, fuel sources, oceans and continental land.

Whose is the social and environmental responsibility? Yours, mine, the general public’s or the government’s? Where are the new technologies that allow for an efficient use of electric resources? Do we have a contingency plan versus the lack of effective measures to preserve the planet?

Global warming will cause climate change which will have a domino effect over all of the world’s economies, especially in our own U.S. economy, which is a first world economy, and is the tip of the iceberg of the problem that we envision.

This is the right time for people to be the real protagonists of change. In very remote places like Alaska, South America, Antarctica, and Asia Pacific, climate change is being felt. The migration of fish is changing; the same is happening with birds and mammals; tropical forests are disappearing. Carbon dioxide, the great contaminant that causes global warming, has not been taken seriously enough.

We have not emphasized enough that carbon dioxide produced by the combustion of fossil fuels is the atmosphere’s main contaminant, and that the rampant consumption of energy is the main negative factor affecting domestic and commercial economies because our homes and businesses consume significantly more energy than what they really need. Back to pollution, the great quantities of by-products released into the atmosphere, greatly increase global and atmospheric warming. We would be truly shocked if we knew the amount of carbon emissions generated just in the U.S., just like we would be amazed by the excessive consumption of energy in our homes and businesses. If as a society, we have already reflected upon this problem, and with technology have revolutionized the production of consumer products for the home with low consumption and high efficiency devices, why then do we still have such high energy consumption?

The response and immediate actions adopted to save our planet from further ecological damage, while also strengthening our economies, are not a coincidence. This response includes an urgent improvement in the operation of the central heating and cooling systems that provide the artificial climate inside our homes, so that they work more efficiently. By transforming with existing technology the world’s homes into energy efficient homes, we could greatly reduce the consumption and production of energy, while we wait for the advent of alternative energy sources which are more earth friendly for energy production and are less damaging to the environment, atmosphere and ozone layer, which impedes the penetration of harmful ultraviolet rays Telegrapa Optimizing our homes will also give us more control over gases used in air conditioning such as Freon, and their destructive effects to the atmosphere, when they escape.

In short, the measures needed to conserve the planet’s ecology must be adopted starting with our homes and businesses by controlling their gas and electricity consumption, preventing more carbon dioxide pollution into the atmosphere, and reducing the negative impact on the planet with lower electric energy generation and lower gas usage by our heating systems.
